No not when you have a PC point to make. Film the bear and keep it from traveling to the ice flow and then when it gets there it is gone. I don't totally trust that movie and never will.

They had one bear---a polar bear. Why not feed it? The only reason I can see not to do it is to show polar bears not being able to eat because of global warmnig, so let it die. Too much PC if you ask me and it leaves a bad image of the film.
It wasnt meant to be taken literally. I guess the point was missed. I tried.

It shouldn't leave a bad image of the film. The filmmakers aren't killing polar bears. It should leave a bad image of the conditions that are causing the bears to die in the first place.

Global warming is to be debated but if we can save just one I would do it. So global warming didn't get the polar bear, the filming did. I guess you could say it was man made---yes the stupid film makers man made.

Janelle, I don't even know why you bothered opening this thread. All you are doing is arguing with everyone who replies and saying the filmmakers are "PC" and "stupid".

Whether or not their presence caused this polar bear to die, there are two other points to keep in mind:

1. It was unintentional, I am sure they didn't try to lure the bear to their camp. By your logic it is my fault if a squirrel dies from crossing the road if I happened to startle it while walking through the woods.
2. The filmmakers are not polar bear wranglers. No one in their right mind would run out and mess with that thing. Polar Bears are not the cute, snuggly animals that Coca Cola commercials would lead you to believe. Maybe you should go up there and try to save some of them and see what happens.

You would think I would learned that lesson by now, but I have not.

I was hoping someone would know if they let the bear die or if it was a set up. Guess only the film makers can say. Maybe I can rent the movie and see what they say in the aside comments.
