I wish I could remember what book I read by William Goldman about how big name actors screw up movies by demanding their characters be "better people/different people" than what the story/script calls for. I specifically remember one big example he used - The movie The Ghost and The Darkness (starred Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer).
You'd be appalled.
