The pre-WWII years had a lot of activity and ongoing relationships. We didn't hate Germany or Japan in general public sentiment any more than we would hate Egypt or Israel today. As a capitalist society, we looked for opportunities to make money. I doubt I'll be wasting money on the book, especially as a main reason for getting it is to have the cites and reference material laid out, as is common in most history books with any scholarly aspect.
