Sandra Bullock gets tough, goes blonde, and delivers what will likely be considered the best performance of her career in The Blind Side. Based on a true story, Bullock picked up her first Academy Award nomination starring as a wealthy, outspoken wife and mom who takes in a homeless teen and turns his life completely around. And, of course, in the process of changing the teenager's life forever, her life is also forever altered.

The Longest Ride (with Nicholas Sparks) 2015 ****+ Excellent movie

Ira Levinson is in trouble. At ninety-one years old, in poor health and alone in the world, he finds himself stranded on an isolated embankment after a car crash. Suffering multiple injuries, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes and comes into focus beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago
Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart
Over the Top 1987. I watched this on Netflix after and episode of the Goldbergs made reference to it. I don't think I have seen this movie since 1987 when I saw it in the theaters with my father. Kind of a cheesy movie with a predictable plot. I mean seriously could there be a cheesier plotline than one about a man who left his family, wife is dying, man tries to be a father again to his kid, rich grandfather wants custody, man tries to earn money to support kid by armwrestling....yeah cheese!
I watched Spectre last night in a theater. I enjoyed it, though I didn't think it was as good as Skyfall. I am not enamored by bringing Spectre and Blofeld back either, as it just reminds me of some of the painfully cheesy Bond movies of the 60s and 70s and I really want the Bond series to get past that dreck. They have gone back a bit to pushing the envelope with regard to the over-the-top stuff that made it so easy for Austin Powers to make fun of the Bond movies. I was happy when they made Casino Royale and tried to make it more serious (obviously the Jason Bourne movies had a big influence in that). You really have to turn your brain off a bit when watching Bond movies (even the Daniel Craig ones) and just try to ignore the obvious issues and the "that would never happen" moments that happen in these movies.
I do like Daniel Craig as Bond quite a bit, though. Unfortunately, they will probably only get one more Bond movie out of him before he decides to move on.
