Just Saturday night I watched The Other One, the documentary about Bob Weir on Netflix. If you are interested in the Grateful Dead it is a great movie to see. Very enlightening.

saw "Spy" with my son and his wife who both have MA's--their choice--couldn't believe it
Better than some other McCarthy films--her vulgarity is reined in most of time but fat jokes are still there --I hate Rose Byrne and think she is terrible actor but McCarthy likes her I guess cause she makes movies with her

McCarthy can be good actress but think she gets some bad advice or she underestimates her non-crude appeal because so much "humor" is just crude shock effect
Couple of photos show full shot of what is supposed to be minor character's penis--no real reason--just images to make audience laugh bcuz of unexpected/uncomfortable "porn shot" on screen
Thought Feig was better director
Guess it will make money

Saw "Love and Mercy" this weekend as well
Paul Giamatti just chewed the scenery--maybe director wanted that overt a bad guy--hair piece says it all
Thought Dano and Cusak were good--Dano a little stronger
Script has some holes in chronology that we wished were more complete since we were not that informed

Makes another in long line of gifted children in one aspect or another of show business who were traumatized, used for parents' gratification--monetarily, psychologically--and who paid such a high price that fame can't really compensate...

Frankly listening to any Beach Boy music after seeing the film definitely takes some of the previous joy from the experience...
