Foxcatcher, wasn't that great. Several errors in the time period that took me out of it.

I just saw The Woman in Gold. I think that was the name of the movie. I enjoyed it as it starred Helen Mirren, and she is an excellent actor. It's about a Jewish Austrian woman that escapes to California, as the Nazi's take over Austria. The Nazi's steal the many art works her family and other's have. The story is basically about the legal proceedings, including the US Supreme Court to return her art work to her. Her lawyer is played by Ryan Reynolds. This is in present day, and its amazing these relatives have to go thru this. Many whose art work was stolen died in the Holocaust. Evidently the Nazi's stole so much, and it still has not been returned to surviving families. Much of it is worth millions of dollars.

GoodFellas--it was terrific, and to this day I wish it had won the Best Picture Oscar over Dances With Wolves.

Syriana
(2005) - Currently on Netflix

I get what the producers and director were going for here, but it didn't work for me. My s/o has tested at low-genius level (I swear) and even she said "I have to admit, I couldn't follow the whole thing."

It felt like we were dumped in the middle of the story, so the exposition wasn't there. The characters seemed one-dimensional. Constantly shifting between the four plots was fine, but more intensity and different cinematography would have helped. Even the [don't want to throw out a spoiler] scene lacked the necessary suspense, partially due to our inability to identify with the characters.
