Four movies this weekend:

La La Land - B
I like musicals and I adore Emma Stone, but the movie was merely "okay" for me. The music was great, but the opening number failed to grab me. The singers had soft voices and I couldn't make out the lyrics very well over the music and other sounds. I liked some of the other songs/performances a lot better. The ending made me cry -- I would have preferred a different ending, but my rating for the movie is based more on the singing/dancing than the storyline/ending.

A Dog's Purpose - B
Again, another "meh" movie. Definitely had me tearing up a few times, but it wasn't as impactful as I expected it to be.

Split - B
I hated the styling of the opening credits -- all the black and white; I thought McAvoy did a great job, and so did the main girl; I enjoyed the story development. But I thought the movie really failed to deliver in the final act.

Resident Evil - B
It's Resident Evil. If you like the movies, I don't see why you wouldn't like this one, too. I did like it better than some of the previous installments.

Love and Mercy. I knew nothing about the life of Brian Wilson, singer/songwriter for the Beach Boys. It was amazing. I ordered his book now.
