"The Magnificent Seven" 2016 A remake of a remake.

I had to. I love Westerns.
However, NOTHING and NO ONE ever will replace Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson,
James Colburn, Robert Vaughn, Eli Wallach, and Brad Dexter.

"Parched" (2016) - available on Netflix.
I highly recommend this terrific Indian movie about three women living the patriarchal (and farcical) rural India. I don't normally like chick movies but this is beautifully shot, the acting is superb, the characters had depth and nuance, and the film keeps you intimately involved.
9/10 stars!!

The Magnificent Seven (2016).

It was okay. As one reviewer said, it was a basic superhero movie, and it was...as were the earlier movies for their times. it's a decent superhero story that deserves to be told by the visual idioms peculiar to new and different audiences.

Lol. No Horst Buchholz?
I love Seven Samurai and the 1960 Magnificent Seven so I saw this too. It's definitely the shortest of the three. I missed the stoic McQueen type in this one, but liked that they got rid of the arrogant/annoying Kikuchiyo/Chico role. I thought Denzel did a good job doing a bit of a homage to Brynner as well as making the role his own.

The second one is not as good. There is no audience delight in the scam.
