I didn't believe him because that scam is BIG in CA. Good looking women and people with a sob story show up all the time to get your sympathy subscription.

It is hard for me to be truly objective because of what I know about Orlando. He had an almost sarcastic tone to his voice when telling his sob story.

Ummmmm ..... I'm in California and I've never had anyone come to my door trying to sell me magazines by telling me they used to be crack addicts. In fact, I've never had anyone come to my door trying to sell me magazines!

So no. No crackhead.
Yep, that's correct.

Now, if you all will excuse me, I'm going to try out my new "jump to conclusions mat", I hear it's all the rage since the pet rock. Later everyone

I guess I should have clarified that it was big in the SoCal area when I lived there. I suppose people out in the desert doesn't see that much of it. If you don't believe me that the scam is out there you can get more information on the FTC's site. Magazine Subscription Scams. The More You Know...

At any rate, I just realized the movie was supposed to take place in Dallas. For some reason, I thought it was in the LA area.

I've had this happen a few times.
The magazine sellers would come to my door and tell me they are in "a program" to help out youths by allowing them to go to college if they sell a certain number of magazine subscriptions, etc. I never had anybody tell me they are a recovering crackhead but, after refusing to buy magazines, one guy asked me if I would at least give him a joint(!)
