A couple of favorites that aren't about Christmas but take place during the season which is featured prominently.

Comfort and Joy (1984) - A Bill Forsyth small gem - unfortunately only available on VHS in the US. Radio dj Alan Bird's girlfriend leaves him in the week before Christmas. Sorrow put aside however when he becomes unexpectedly involved in a war between two competing Italian families in the Glasgow ice cream business.

Nobody's Fool (1994) - Paul Newman as an aging ne'er-do-well still looking for family connection in his upstate New York small town.

Another vote for "A Christmas Story"

"You'll shoot your eye out, kid."

I also love "Holiday Inn" and "White Christmas".

Gotta go with "The Year Without a Santa Claus", with mother nature, heat and cold miser. It just reminds me so much of childhood back in the 70s! I still cry when the little girl sings "Blue Christmas"!
