Here's a true sleeper: The Last Exit to Brooklyn with Jennifer Jason Lee as a prostitute in NYC. Made in 1989 I saw it in a theater; it sort of disappeared into cinema history and didnt do much at the box office.
I would call it a cult movie now. And a very good one.
