With the success of "Wandavision", Elizabeth Olsen's portrayal of Scarlet Witch is the really only positive thing about phase 4. I am excited to see her in Doctor Strange 2...
The rest of it...i have no interest in any other shows/movies. It seems whats been coming out is mediocre at best. Did anyone really like Black Widow, Shang Chi, or Eternals?
Does the new Thor movie, "Love and thunder" sound exciting?

BLACK WIDOW was okay. SHANG CHI was bad. I haven't seen THE ETERNALS. I haven't loved any of the Phase 3 flicks. The last truly semi-great MCU movie was probably CAPTAIN AMERICA 2: WINTER SOLDIER.
I did like WANDAVISION a lot, despite a thoroughly weak ending. The other two Disney+ TV shows were mediocre at best.

Disney's hoping Gunn's third Guardians movie is a runaway hit so they don't have to initiate a major rethink.
I know I'm whispering into the wind on this, but I hope they not only do a major rethink, but a major do-over. Their best actors are largely moving on. Phases 3 and 4 seems largely directionless money-grabs.
Marvel ought to reset their whole universe with two big guidelines:
1. Reintegrate the FF, X-Men, etc. into the MCU from Day 1.
2. Differentiate between their "street level" heroes (Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, the Punisher, etc.) and the "global level" heroes (Avengers, FF, X-Men). The street-level heroes ought to be TV shows that concentrate more on long-term character arcs and intricate plots. The global heroes go to the movies, with the larger special effects budgets. X-MEN might actually need a movie budget in a TV series format, because they have so many characters and intricate storylines.
But yeah, I know this won't happen. Kevin Feige still isn't returning my calls.
They're more likely trying to (figure out how to) reintegrate those characters without erasing the existing chronology. That poses a serious problem, and the easiest way to do it is to get into parallel timeline nonsense. I guess some of that figures into the next Spider-Man movie.
Downey, Evans and Johansson are done. Pratt's not, and he's a huge star now. No telling when Hemsworth will bow out.
The Thanos saga should have never been attempted, let alone allowed to conclude, without somehow having all the characters in place.

Shangchi is the main breakthrough piece for phase 4. Similar with BP.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. They'll try too hard. Remember the first movie in the STAR TREK reboot? After about the fifth time a character explained a parallel time line to the audience, it really made you realize how hackneyed the whole thing was.

Yeah. Like the Hulk, the MCU has broken Spider-Man. They don't understand their own characters.
But I don't anticipate things getting any better under Disney. The House of Mouse is about Happy Meals, not quality cuisine.

The 2009 film was successful in that it reintroduced the original characters and premise with modern sensibilities, and it had a cast that was more than up to the task.
But the 2012 sequel with "Khanberbatch" screwed everything up.

The first one was okay. I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. I loved the scope of the movie. For the first time, a Star Trek movie showed the future that was lived far beyond the starship. But it had enough fundamental problems that kept me from loving it.
I hated the second one.
I made it about half an hour into the third one before turning it off in disgust.
A good summary that nails the fundamental problem:

Aesthetically, it veers a little too close to Star Wars in areas, but overall it's a good movie, and it was a good time in the theater. But I really am tired of hearing aliens talk like residents of CA or NY: "Don't tell me it didn't happen! I saw it happen!" "That ship: Take it out."

I saw Into Darkness in the theater and I couldn't wait for it to end. The last act was grueling. They really messed it up. It's a Star Wars movie in Star Trek clothing. And you canNOT redo The Wrath of Khan, no matter how much a jigsaw you try to turn the story into.
