That may well be. I have never met the guy. But he doesn't have a good reputation. Even in interviews, he has never struck me as a very nice person.
That said, the guy made some great movies in his day. And if we wanted to start writing a list of great artists who were horrible human beings, we might have a semi-extensive list finished in 12 or 13 pages. I know Chuck Berry and James Brown were horrible people. I still like their music. I know Beethoven could be a monster at times. He's no less a genius. Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, etc....
