I finally saw the original one so we can see the new one together. I liked the original better. Second one was too predictable and just followed same storyline as first one. Didn't really see the point of the sequel??

We just watched tonight. I went into it hearing mixed reviews and really expecting to be disappointed. Well, it was MUCH better than I thought it’d be. My hubby and I were laughing the entire time. Nice homages to the original; unexpected hilarious cameos; who knew Wesley Snipes could do comedy? And while somewhat predictable, had some unexpected developments too. Overall, don’t think it will be a classic like the original, but a decent, entertaining sequel.

I'm halfway through it, and I'd agree with your assessment thus far.

Eddie should be banned from making sequels

Coming 2 America certainly lacked the heart and depth of characters we saw in the first movie, but I still found myself smiling ear to ear during most of this sequel. It wasn't amazing, but it was still fun and I had a great time watching this flick.

Eddie has 10 kids. He is trying to make sure they are kept wealthy even if it means popping out these lackluster movies.

Now he is talking about doing a standup. He is probably looking at Netflix to give him a 100 Million dollar deal or something like Chappelle.

I just finished it. I enjoyed it. However, I think the real winner here is Jermaine Fowler. I don't like his standup, but with a script he has a winning personality. Could develop into a very good comedic actor.

The last decent Eddie movie was Life with Martin Lawrence. Also, Eddie could have gotten in shape for the role. Now, he wants to get back into stand-up.
Seems to me, Eddie Murphy was most popular when he was very controversial and seen as a lewd comedian, i remember this time period when I was in middle school, he was very popular among kids of that age!

I had to laugh, some years later, when Eddie Murphy starred in that movie about a daddy day care and it was VERY G rated movie!!

Not sure eddie can go back to being lewd at this point, he has sold out long ago, he is too 'white bread' today...Ice Cube went thru the same thing, he used to seen as a violent gangster rapper who was very racist against white people...now, he is in comedy movies for kids.

I agree. He has great screen presence without being too “over the top”. His comedic talents seem effortless. I still can’t stand Leslie Jones though. She always seems like she is “trying too hard”.

HBO Max has Beverly Hill Cops. That was classic Eddie. After Eddie made the Nutty Professor 2, he pretty much fell off. Or was it when the whole controversy with the Trans Hooker occur?
