A Stolen Life with Bette Davis and Glenn Ford, one of the few BD movies I'd never seen and knew nothing about.

Good story and Bette is really good as the plain good twin and the flashy bad twin.

While he dutifully goes through the motions, Glenn Ford and Bette have zero chemistry. I like both actors but Bette was eight years older than Glenn Ford and it clearly shows.

She was an attractive person, beautiful when young imo, with a statuesque bearing. By 1946 she could still look elegant in a smart suit but her figure was starting to look matronly, especially along side a very youthful and handsome Glenn Ford who starred in Gilda the same year.

The story, which centers around mistaken identity, is complex with a few twists along the way, and takes place along the rocky foggy New England coast, adding an element of mystery and danger.

The ending wraps up a little too short and sweetie but certainly the way it "should" do.

7 out of ten only because of the Glenn Ford/Bette Davis mismatch. And while it's always nice to see a young Glenn Ford, this movie longs for George Brent.

99 Homes (2014-Netflix)

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/99_homes

MOVIE INFO
A desperate construction worker (Andrew Garfield) reluctantly accepts a job with the ruthless real-estate broker (Michael Shannon) who evicted him and his family from their home.

My 2nd watch...very well acted, and a fascinating real-life storyline of the "great recession". Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon are fantastic. Some heartbreaking scenes.

Excellent, especially if you are into movies of the Arabian Nights, musicals, and fantastic costuming and sets.......and I am. A 9.5.

Star Wars: Rogue One probably the third or fourth rewatch
This has to be one of the best Disney-fied movies. I'd say it is even better or equal to a couple of the
originals. The Mandalorian, and Andor weren't too bad but the new trilogy started out okay, then got worse. Great visuals, done with poorly done cgi. And the Boba Fett series...just horrible, they took one of the best S/W characters and emasculated him.

The next time there is a board room meeting to develop the next Star Wars movie or series, they need to first watch Rogue One, all the way through A New Hope. Follow that recipe.

Eastern Promises

Pretty good flick with sets, photography, costuming but....it seems like it can't make the final step to come together. As a story about a criminal operation, it's a step or two below "Birds of Prey" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088809/?ref_=fn_al_tt_6 ..... but more expensively done, of course. A 6.2.

A really good mafia thriller from 1955, starring Richard Conte and 24 yr old Anne Bancroft. Excellent story and cast.
