For me personally growing up I’ve always thought Jackie Steward was one of the best drivers in the world.

Jackie Stewart was one of the greatest British drivers ever, however Stewart himself will tell you that Jim Clark was the best.

Jackie Stewart is another very likeable man, and enjoyed a lot of good natured humour with Clark and Granham Hill amongst others.

Stewart recently officially opened a museum in Jim Clark's memory recently in Scotland.

During the 70's the rich playboys began to displace the 'Gentlemen Races', and the likes of James Hunt who is potrayed along with Niki Lauda in the film Rush. Barry Sheene, who was also extremely likeable, indeed every one loved Barry, also came on to the scene in terms of motor bikes.

It was an interesting time in motor sport which was far more exciting than today, however it was also sadly subject to less safety and a lot more tragedy.

Although not a fan of Robbie Williams music, his song and video 'Love Supreme' did a good job of potraying the era of the Gentlemen Races.

Miles would have won but Ford wanted all the Ford Cars to finish close together to give them a great photo image.

McLaren was further back in the starting grid so it was worked out he had covered more distance even if it was only twenty feet. I also agree that Miles would have won more if he had not been killed aged 47, but then again so would Bruce McLaren who was 28 at the time and died 4 years later aged 32. McLaren left a massive legacy and McLaren, the company Bruce set up in 1963 is now a ground breaking company.

The Official McLaren Website – McLaren.com

As for the film it did embellish some of the truth, but this was mainly done for entertainment.

Here in the Houston metro, we have one of the 24 McLaren retailers in the U.S.

The closest Porsche dealer closed down that Porsche location and relocated closer to the McLaren retailer......in a new facility they built...essentially across the freeway from the McLaren retailer. And Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce are next to the Porsche dealership.Tesla is nearby as well. But McLaren was the leader/first high performance manufacturer to identify that particular area .

Another dynamic that went in Fords favour in 1966, was the dropping of John Surtees in the Le Mans race by Ferrari, a legendrrey driver who was one of the few to win on two wheels and four wheels.

As for Bruce McLaren's company 'McLaren' here's a video of the McLaren Technology Centre and production centre today, which is near Woking in Surrey in England.

As for dealerships they have opened dealerships in a number of good locations including Houston in Texas, a great city and state in a great country.

All the really good driver won’t admit to being the best drivers themselves.

True but the general consensus was that Jim was the best, and his death shocked the world of motor racing.

Ask anyone iin the sport who was the best British driver at the time and they will all answer the same.

You also just need look no further than what Jim Clark did on the track and his record of races, which was sadly cut short by his tragic death.
