Some movies should just be left alone. Yes, like Point Break. Like Road House. The original stars made those flicks.
I can't believe they attempted Overboard. I like Anna Faris, but she's no Goldie, not to mention the other half of the formula was Kurt.
I didn't even know they'd remade those movies.
I've never actually seen Point Break, but Road House is one of the most unintentionally hilarious movies I've ever seen. Not quite TOP GUN level, but real close.

Road House is 1,428 times a better movie than the grossly overrated, overhyped Top Gun.

Yeah, but that's a pretty low bar. That's like saying your Uncle Phil is 1,428 times more masculine than Pee Wee Herman.

Nope. I've never really avoided it exactly. But the whole pretty boy "buddy" cop action/adventure movie has never been in my top 10 list of favorite kinds of movies. I can make it through the first LETHAL WEAPON or two, but after that, I'm ready for a new flavor of popcorn.
I love Elizabeth Banks. But I think she's offbase here.
Maybe she remember's Charlie's Angels being some sort of early feminist show about strong women. If so, she's remembering a different show than I watched as a kid. Charlie's Angels was very much in the so-called "male genre." It was a hit because so many guys watched it for the pretty women. Some critics even dubbed it "jiggle TV."
Why the movie is bombing I have no idea. Cinema as a whole is struggling. Maybe because it's a remake of a TV show that most young people have never heard of, much less watched? I don't know.
But I don't think you can blame it on "guys don't like movies with strong women" or "women don't like action movies."
Totally agree.
I don't think women like this kind of constant violence. I know I don't. I used to watch the show.

Yeah, but you like Downton Abbey. I will not overlook that. And I don't have an uncle named Phil.

Point Break isn't a buddy cop film, though. It's an oddball flick with a cult following that could only exist because of its time. That's why you can't remake it.

Well you can't remake Point Break until the Fast and the Furious franchise finally dies.
I watched the original Charlie’s Angels on TV and to me these three girls will never be Angels. The movie some years back wasn’t bad for a different era , but Farrah, Jaclyn and Kate are the real Angels.
Just like Sigourney Weaver will always be Ripley. Some things you can’t do over.

Yes agree. I saw and enjoyed all of them. Point Break was mystical yet intense and I don’t even surf, lol. I loved the dynamics.
