I thought it was really good. I'm a sucker for high fantasy and sci-fi and I just LOVE Multiverse theories. This played right into that for me. Marvel definitely did not back away from the crazy, time- and reality-altering aspects that I've heard the comics delve into. And yeah, incredible set pieces. My only real criticism is that the first act was pretty rushed and they really hammered that Strange is arrogant. Yeah I see that through dialogue/acting, I don't need it telegraphed to me several times. But those are minor complaints in a solid movie.
I am not a fan of 3D but got free Imax 3D tickets and I loved the effects. It was such a surreal experience. I will be seeing this again. And I highly reccomned the 3D version, Imax if you can.
After seeing the Dr. Strange film, as my friend and I were relaxing in the theatre-lobby, we overheard a couple (male and female) discussing. When the male asked for the lady's opinion, she said,"Cute." The male asked,"Are you referring to Cumberbatch?", to which the lady answered,"No, I meant his Cloak." I'm guessing that the lady was referring to when the Cloak deliberately tickles Stephen on his neck.
