Got to disagree on Red October. That was one of those occasions where they changed the movie to suit his Scottish accent, even if it didn't make sense. Hello, a Scottish accent on a Russian nuclear submarine? Puleez.
I love Red October, but I agree with your point. Hard to fathom (wink wink) what the director was thinking. Granted, the audience was supposed to understand that the RO's crew were all actually speaking Russian, and the film is jut "translating" it for the audience. But you have Sean Connery shounding like Sean Cawnnery, Sam Neil trying his best at a light Russian accent, Tim Curry sounding like an English butler fussing over tea time, and the rest of the crew doing Ensign Chekov impersonations. It is a glaringly weak detail in an otherwise fantastic movie.
LOVED Medicine Man. I actually bought that DVD, and I very rarely buy movies.

Fortunately, he never tries to fake another accent he can't deliver. So, it's on the producers, etc., of movies who hire him in completely inappropriate roles where a Scottish accent is ridiculous.
The Medicine Man worked, though. I can watch it over and over again.
So we agree on one movie and disagree on another. That's fine. The Scottish accent was not an issue with me in the least. With some people it is. We all have our likes and dislikes. If I find myself liking a movie I don't take a critical eye to it. I just enjoy it.
I'm surprised nobody seems to have mentioned "Rising Sun." I don't think it was his best at all, but I liked it, and I think it was better than some of the others mentioned here.
I'd have to vote for "Robin and Marian." That was not only a good film, but the perfect role for him - especially at that moment in his career. I liked him a lot in "Finding Forrester," too - you could tell he had a lot of fun making that picture.
One of my favorite actors. Doesn't matter what he's in, I just enjoy watching the man work.
Sean only plays himself in every movie, he cant do any other accent no matter what hes playing.. but I still like him....he did have a go at an Irish accent in Darby O'Gill.. and some other one..
