One of the creepiest films I've seen is "Blind Beast". I can't say it's one I'd hurry to watch again, but his studio is a remarrkable set, very surrealistic. I admit that I was cowardly enough to mute the sound at certain points. Maybe this wouldn't be as harrowing to others, especially those who watch "Saw", "Hostel" and other such films. To me... *shudderrrrr*

There are lots of great foreign films out there and in some cases they are so good that Hollywood couldn't produce them.
I agree with many listed here. What I like about foreign films such as "Amelie" is they portray the life of a average people who see life and the world around them a little different. You don't need to be shooting at alien invaders or go over the top with crazy visual effects to have a good movie.
I recently watched a movie called "Troll Hunter" that really surprised me. I don't remember the country of origin but it was good.
Asian movies are their own nitch. Korea seems to do horror very well and China has such a rich history they can go back into their own time and pull stories full of heroes and stunning scenery at will. Check out "Hero" which is amazing.
