Anyway, is it sad that I've only seen 7 best picture winners?
I don't know, it seems the ones from the 20s and 30s aren't as well known and harder to find at the video store. Most of the above I watched on DVD. For awhile I was into watching all the old classics, which is largely why I've seen most of them.
Surprised at how few some here have seen...I don't know if I consider myself a 'movie buff' though I do love movies.
I'm going to disagree on the latter. Schizophrenic. Went from being a comedy to being tragic. I understand that it was about the depth of a father's love for his son, but it was too disturbing.
"Cinema Paradiso" is just bittersweet, and also deep.

Sorry. I completely misunderstood. I didn't realize you were listing the ones you've seen. I thought you were just creating a list of all the best picture winners. It makes sense now! By the way, you've seen a lot!
I only included ones that I could specifically remember seeing. I'm pretty sure I've seen more.
1943 - Casablanca
1957 - The Bridge On The River Kwai - Possibly my favorite war movie. I believe that John Lennon got the idea of All You Need is Love from a line in this movie. Also, pretty sure they got the idea for the the name Billy Shears from it as well.
1961 - West Side Story - Seen the movie and the play multiple times.

1996 - The English Patient (watched like 30 mins of it, hated it)
1999 - American Beauty 2002 - Chicago (watched parts of it, I don't normally like musicals anyway)
The ones I didn't see:
I doubt I will ever see the bold ones.
Schindler's List is great, I've seen it like 5 times already. I don't usually like WW2 movies because they tend to be obnoxious American propaganda (like Pearl Harbor and Saving Private Ryan ) but SL was very nice and different.
Here's a full list. The ones I've seen are in bold. Starting with the 60s I've bolded in blue 1-3 per decade that I especially liked. Man, the 70s and 80s were packed with some excellent movies. The Departed is super-fab. I think I've seen a few that I didn't mark but am not sure - it might just be that I know the story and who starred and that kind of thing.
