For me, practically all movies with too much computer-generated backgrounds, because they tend to look too "dark" and that blows it completely for me.

Those two words (in bold) are the key: it's all relative.

For me...Terms of Endearment. I got drug to see that film by a girl I used to date. Bypassed Red Dawn for it. Then she went and saw that with some other guy and called to tell me how good it was.

I agree with whoever said Avatar was overrated. Almost all animated movies, as well as CGI movies that are semi-animated, are not worth watching, IMO. I prefer more realism. I also agree with whoever said that one's opinion of what constitutes an overrated movie is relative.

I would say 95% of movies that movie critiques likes and is nominated for tons of awards. I swear, most of them are boring piece of crap.

These must-see movies are duds for me:

2001 A Space Odyssey (or anything Kubrick made)
Citizen Kane
Crash
The English Patient
The Pianist
The Piano
Shakespeare In Love
any Kurasawa movies (influential, but boring)

I think the 1970's Superman movies are overrated and even Man of Steel and the Marvel Incredible Hulk are overrated. The Superman movies from the 70's is because of the pacing, the 5,000 things happening at one moment needing Superman to come in and how bad the effects look, even in 1970's terms (sorry even the original edit of Star Wars makes Superman look like it is the Wonder Woman tv series.) Man of Steel was put together like Batman Begins (my least favorite Dark Knight movie) with inter spercing the flashbacks into modern day but unlike Begins, Man of Steel's just didn't line up with what was going on at the time. Perhaps an Interview with a Vampire style where Lois Lane or Chris Meloni's character questioned Superman while he was in army care after Zod appeared would have worked better. As for the Hulk, I've heard a lot of comic fans is a great movie and I just don't see it. It is not a bad movie, it just I don't see what makes it so great.

.LMAO!!! You nailed it man. It takes a special kind of mind to be a movie critic. In reality, I think most of us average folks, seeking entertainment, are squirming in our seats trying to get through movies the critics rave about.
