Okay I am an X-Men fan, but when I saw the trailer and previews for X-Men First Class, I thought it looked crappy. Maybe it was because X-Men 3 was crappy as well as Wolverine. I wasn't planning on seeing it.
However, reviews are are starting to trickle in and there are quite a few reviews (20+) and as of now it has a 97% rating on RT. What do you all think? The only person that gave it a bad review was a person that liked Wolverine (the movie) and I think that says a lot.
I am sure it will drop a little bit, but I am surprised the reviews have been so good. I definitely plan on seeing it now.
Matthew Vaughn has been hit and miss for his other three directing projects, imo, but I think I'll see it in theaters. Looks decent from the trailer, has a good cast, lacks Will.i.am, etc.
After everything I've read about this movie, I'm pretty stoked. I have little doubt it will be a great movie and not follow the crapfest that was Wolverine. Plus, I love me some January Jones. And Rose Byrne.

Honestly, even if it were bad, seeing Jennifer Lawrence might make it worth the price of admission.
The one thing that still strikes me as a bit iffy is the mutant overload, which was a large part of the problem of X3 and Wolverine: Origins. The first two X-films worked because the story focused on a small group of characters and their story. After that, it seemed like the filmmakers thought they had a mutant quota to fill.
But the previews definitely look good. I like that it's a period piece.
First class movie! Great character development and chemistry between the actors. They had clear histories, personalities and motives. Kevin Bacons grinning narcissistic bad guy was great. This film was mostly story, with action scenes fitting right in at the right moments. the scene where Charles Xavier and Erik (Magneto) were recruiting mutants was great, and included a humorous surprise! Whether you are a fan of the comics, or only slightly familiar with the comics and like great sci-fi, this is a fun night at the cinema.
D. Scott-At the movies on Friday night (Trying to ignore the cell phone yapper behind me!)
I am a huge X-Men fan but this movie was pretty lame. I thought the script was bad, the acting in parts stilted and the storyline convoluted.
Definitely a 6/10 rating.
