Do you live in a State that does NOT require a helmet?

A intersection is the worse place to be on a motorcycle.You can be hit from 4 different directions.The one thing I talk most about to new riders is to get through the intersection as quickly and savely as possible.Don't Dilly Dally.Twist that throttle and get moving.Have your head on a swivel.Don't worry about how cool you look.Worry about beening seen,and not beening the next victom.Ken

I think it would be better if shoulder riding was allowed than lane splitting, have lived/rode in CA too.
