Tennessee doesn't require any registration on Cargo, Motorcycle and Boat trailers. Only on trailers use for a business or commercial trailer.

I find it hard to believe you can run a trailer on the roads of any state without a license~ if you have a lisense plate assigned to a trailer it is indeed registered!

In Iowa these trailers do not have a title~ the registration is the title!

I lived in Maryland and they require a tag for all trailers, but now in South Carolina they do not.

In CA license for all trailers.
CA does not allow towing double trailers for any personal vehicles. Tractor trailers excepted of course.
Every once in a while I will see some pickup truck towing a camper and a boat behind that. CHP nails them.

Pennsylvania requires registration and a plate on all trailers no matter the size and/or type.

Certain trailers also need to be inspected yearly....such as horse trailers. Mainly, if the trailer has brakes, it must have an inspection sticker.

VT requires all trailers to be licensed and inspected. Inspection consists of lights, tires, brakes - if applicable, and rust. Oddly, I've never had any of my boat trailers inspected. It's only about 6 miles to the lake and those stickers on the tongue are hard to spot. Plus, I drive really really carefully when towing.

MI requires registration, but it is a one-time good deal. Once you register it the first time, you never have to again. Lifetime license plates. Kind of expensive up front, but so easy for the life of a trailer.
