Back in my old street racing day's we used to love picking on bikes, as long as they had a street tire and didn't have an extended swing arm. A friend had a 69 Camaro, looked all stock except for the 10" slicks and front runners.. it ran 9:60's ... he made quite a bit of money racing bikes. Back in the early 90's there weren't a lot of bikes that fast and even harder was someone that could actually ride the bike good enough. My car only ran 10's so I had to pick my races carefully.

There still aren't a lot of street bikes that are THAT fast. A 9.6 quarter is very quick.

Well... I'm off for awhile. I have to head downtown for work. I'll be on the cycle. I'll keep my eyes open for some hooligan - who looks like Brett Favre - trying to race me in his company SUV.
Hahaha..

It has ID numbers on the back but no phone number. Thank God!

Hey - I was behind a gal, this afternoon, at a red light. When the light turned green she let 'er roar.

Of course, she was in a new retro Mustang - so she pretty much had the right (need?) to romp on it. Beautiful car.

Oh yeah... I didn't race her, either.

I actually thought all the newer big bores were in the 9's.. the last time I was at the drag strip I saw a bunch of turboed bikes. There is a "street" class that allows an extended swingarm but has to have a DOT tire. Fastest I saw were in the 7's @ 200 ish...
Although the cars are quite a bit faster as well, a friend drives his Mustang to work pretty much everyday .. it has a 26x10 slick and he won't tell the quarter mile time but it's running 5:30's in the 1/8th. I think that's well into the 8's. Gotta luv turbo's.

The fastest (in the quarter) bone stock street bike I've seen tested my a magazine did a 9.55 quarter. I think it was a Suzuki GSX-1000R. Sure, they can be made to go faster! No point unless you're going racing.

That is damn fast for a stocker !! I love bikes but would never want one, I've been over 100 in a boat, 130 on a drag sled, 9's in a car, but sport bikes scare the hell out of me !

I guess they're ex-sport bike riders?

Heck I ride a GoldWing, even I know better than to race a Ninja, a Ninja will blow me away off the line, but I will take him to the cleaners on a 500 ride.
