US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson said Thursday it would cut an additional 300 to 400 jobs over the next two years to realign its production with softer demand.

The company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin made the announcement after revealing first quarter results showing worldwide sales of its iconic motorbikes fell 12.0 percent and US retail sales declined 9.7 percent from last year's first quarter.

I hope they don't cut the two guys who work in engineering

They should cut the ten thousand guys in the dept that come up with retarded names for the bikes and the guys who come up with the anniversary editions....You would think Harley has 100 anniversaries a year and morons fall all over their selves to buy that "one off" special edition

Yes, I heard about the job losses at H-D. I suppose their stock isn't doing too well.

I hope they last long enough for me to get my hands on one of the new Sportster XR1200s to try out. That looks like a great bike. They shouldn't have taken so long.

I'm not a "Sportsturd" fan in the least and never seen one I would give 5 bucks for if I had to keep it and ride it everyday...that is,until that XR1200...that thing is retro cool looking as can be.

MY 4000th post and I STILL haven't said anything worth listening to....I'm on a roll.

For a 1200 with 90 ponies but pushing 600 lbs, it probably could have lost some more weight for a "performance" bike.

Kinda looks like a Buell fitted with a 70's Sportster tank, plus a bit of the old Aeromacchi Harley thrown in. Maybe they were looking for some nostalgia appeal, but not sure that's the best Harley era (a.k.a. "the AMF Years") to be goin' for!

Made to look like the flat trackers. It's the only sportster that I'd consider owning.
