The 2010 Honda VFR 1200 will apparently come in a version that'll offer manual, automatic and, perhaps most interesting, pushbutton shifting a la supercars.

(Interesting bike - apparently, it'll come withtechnology to run on 2, 3 or 4 cylinders as per demand, throttle-by-wire and other hi-tech goodies.)

Oh, and it's expected to break 200 MPH. Interesting bike.

Dude, automatic transmissions have been around on bikes for 30 years! The thing is: who would want one? Girls? LOL. Look: a good deal of the enjoyment of bike riding for me is in the shifting. And perhaps more importantly: it is a safety issue, allowing the rider to escape a potentially perilous situation by either down- or up-shifting to accelerate.
No thanks; I'll pass on the automatic tranny.

I like my 1200 Bandit, but I put more miles on my comfy 250 Helix last summer.

Looks like my next two wheeler will be a big scooter with CVT drive. I am too sick to ride my '80 KZ1300 any more. PM for details.
