I like it! Very cool . . . I appreciate imaginative stuff like this, same as I appreciate Bourbon Bandits, etc . . .
Sadly, this thread will turn into a cesspool of muck soon.
Yeah yeah yeah people we know, a Hyabusa will go faster, thats not the point, ok?
If I wanted a touring bike, I'd be looking more at the mid-sized ones. FJ09, BMW F800, Weestrom, etc. If you want ones that go ridiculously fast they have those. Multistrada or Super Duke 1290 offer similar levels of top speed off the show room floor without rebuilding the engine. It's really an image thing. You either buy into the dentist masquerading as an outlaw or you don't. I don't. Baggers don't do much for me so spending a lot of money to make one that's fast in a straight line just seems pointless. They kind of fall into the category of 300 mph school buses. Cool, I guess, for the novelty, but not much more.
Nothing like a Harley. I just test drove a 1900 Yamaha Vstar. They have the best track record for reliability. But its not a Harley. I will keep my Dyna, fix the cam shoe with gears and run it till I can't.

I get that, and I'm not the biggest HD fan either. That bike, though was built with a purpose as a particular vehicle to break a landspeed record, happens all the time at Bonneville, HDs aren't know for their break-neck speed, niether are some of the cars that race at Bonneville, which is kinda the whole point of building the "fastest something," out of something that normally isn't. That's why I was interested in the article, an they didn't do a lot of mods, it would be like barelly modifing a limo, wnd getting a near record time at Pikes Peak, or getting a15min lap time at the N'ring with a US Mail delivery van.

Except the Nurburgring or Pikes Peak involve actually turns.
Like I said, it's interesting for the novelty like a 300 mph school bus is. It's a school bus and they made it go fast. Or like fast limousines, sure. There's limousines that do 170 mph without a single modification which is pretty fast.
