I have done my commute at 25 and can handle it, but it wasn't all that pleasurable. I really need some heated gloves. I put the trickle charger this weekend on one of my bikes. The other is parked at work, and I am really hoping to ride it soon!

I rode year 'round in PA. If there was no snow on the road, I was on the bike. Had some scary moments, of course, but I was younger and not as many things bothered me. I ride a scooter now, and it is seriously the best commuting tool I have ever had out of all the bikes I've had, but NOT a tool for winter as I found out picking it up off the road a while ago

I ride 98% of the time. I have a scooter equipped with Handlebar Muffs and a Lap Apron that helps to keep me warm. I've been down to 5F for a 30 mile commute. You would be surprised how the body adapts. During the start of the season, I was always cold. After a week of inclement weather, the normal weather was warm and welcome change. The only time that I don't ride is when they're an inch of snow. Highways seem to be better maintained than surface streets. I've been scooter only for over 10 years in TX, NM, OR, HI, and now CO. Having a scooter allows me to the pleasure of not having to shift. Heated gear works well in weather under Freezing. I love my battery powered gloves. Sometimes wires get in the way. I hope that this helps.

I ride daily in Denver, but not a motorcycle. I ride a scooter with a lap apron, heated gloves for 35 F and below, heated jacket liner for below freezing days. 30 mile commute one way. The scooter has a great leg shield and is twist and go so awesome in traffic, plus great mileage and low insurance cost.

I commute to work and back on my Honda Shadow Ace 1100.

Then again, I live in a small town in Arizona and my commute is only three miles. LOL.

The longest work commute I ever had was back in California about 20 years ago when I drove from Gilroy to Palo Alto five times a week. It was 50 miles or so, but due to the good ol' Cali Hiway 101 commuter traffic it took me and hour-and-a-half each way. I did this for 18 months. Went through two clutches!

Sucked. Never again.

Now that the weather warmed up here I am riding a Kawasaki Ninja 500R to work. I carpool with my wife a few days a week and I guess we are "bike-pooling" now. I just started riding last year starting with a 150cc scooter and then picked up the Ninja in the fall. Both have made for great commuter vehicles for my short urban commute (~10 miles).

I finally started riding in the DC area again. Last week was my first full week of motorcycle commuting. It felt good to be back on it, and it really does make the commute bearable. I don't know how you guys do it in single digits, but mid-twenties is my limit. This morning was 30 and it was no problem, but I can't wait for warmer temperatures!

Be careful out there everyone.

Motorcycle commuting in the DC area is still strong, but I know an end is coming. I managed to ride through half of December last year, but I am not feeling it this year. I may just do a week or two more. I am jealous of people that can ride year long as I did when I lived in California. Who else is about to put their motorcycles up for the Winter?
