I think the prohibitions are based on previous experience with "biker" gangs and a whole lot of very dumb movies. Because I have short legs and a long torso I prefer the grips to be about 3" behind and 4" above stock but those are not "Ape Hangers". I really wonder how the guy on the yellow bike can steer the thing.

I don't think he CAN steer it. He's just hoping to get going fast enough, without tipping over, so that the bike keeps itself upright.

It looks like it'd be a good back work out. The only way I can picture turning is by twisting your whole upper body.

At least he looks badass.

He looks like an experiment in Gene Pool Improvment by self elimination. There is badass and then there is laughable.

"Bad" was not what I was thinking of for the first half of that word...

Unless you ride you don't know that to steer at speeds of over 25 MPH or so you steer the wrong way. That is if you push the bars RIGHT you go left.

Look up counter steering, and that isn't a trick, it is the way bikes roll...
On heavy cruisers people tend to push pull with both hands.

More or less you push down on the bar in the direction you want to go. A point comes where it looks really stupid.

Like buckhorn bars? My bike has those and I like them.

Yes I ride and know that. It's still steering and when both arms are nearly vertical there's hardly any leverage available.

HA ha !! Reps for Roger Cormon reference alone.
I put semi-apes (chimps??) on my FXST and they were the most uncomfortable bars ever! After a while, they hurt my arms and shoulders. Clutch hand wasnt too much better, either

After my two HD's I found out a lot of stuff hardcore HD guys do to look cool is really not ideal for serious roadwork!
