This is the MotoCzysz E1PC. It is electric. It is almost certainly the most advanced motorcycle on the planet. And it is the future.

We told you moto-genius Michael Czysz — pronounced sizz — was building another contender for the TT Zero electric motorcycle race on the Isle of Man. But we caught up with him early in the build and he wasn’t providing details or pics. Now that the bike’s hit the track, Wes Siler of Hell For Leather has all the details on the MotoCzysz E1PC in a piece posted over at Popular Science.

This bike is bad-ass, no two ways about it. It has a custom-built 12.5-kilowatt-hour lithium polymer battery that can be swapped in seconds. The custom-built, oil-cooled motor generates 100 horsepower (continuous) and 250 pound-feet of torque. It all hangs from a custom frame. Of course, it’s got the usual top-shelf hardware.

Latest issue of MotorCyclist is nothing but articles on electric bikes, including this one. Interesting read, although the scary aspect was the author's notes in more than one article stating that the number of close calls with other drivers and even pedestrians went up significantly, presumably due to how quiet electric vehicles are.

Still, if I could get something with a decent range for a price comparable to a ICE bike, I would think about it.

Mike

There will come a time when the sounds of engines screaming around the track will be as valuable to the race fan as front row tickets.

All you hear from electric racers is.......Whooosh!

The unfortunate thing is that whether you like it or not, electric motors appear to be the way of the future. I'm going to miss the sound of a good exhaust note myself but I'm also accepting of the fact that I'm just going to have to deal with it.

It looks to be too long , top-heavy, too heavy overall. I wouldn't want to attempt low speed handling on that thing.

motormaker: 'Tis tres cool! I love art deco.

As for all this 'green' stuff, is it really? In the case of the bike, it all depends upon how the electricity with which the batteries are charged was generated. (And how the batteries are disposed of when they are used up.)

525 pounds is heavy for a racebike!

I guess it looks longer than it actually is, but it is a heavy bike.

Oh. I agree, it was just a neat look at the past. The owner didn't seen to have a problem maneuvering it, but I should would. And wouldn't want too.
