I like the sound and feel of the current gas engines as well.
That said, as long as I like the look of the bike and the way it rides, I could not care less if it ran on coal.....err, may be a little.
The unfortunate thing is that whether you like it or not, electric motors appear to be the way of the future. I'm going to miss the sound of a good exhaust note myself but I'm also accepting of the fact that I'm just going to have to deal with it.
Electric bikes the wave of the future, no way. No sound, no shifting, no pissing off the neighbors with your new exhaust system. Wont happen. Too many gear heads in todays motorcycle industry to let that happen.
I ride a Suzuki 650 Burgmann scooter. It has decent handling and is surprisingly quick. It is a very quiet bike and perfect of old farts like me. I think the tolerance for loud engines of any kind will become a lot less in the future.
