I'd expect your assessed value to go up a lot next year. Of course that will raise your taxes not lower them. Have you checked your county's website to look at the assessed values on the homes around yours?
My taxes went up the second year I had my home, because the people we bought it from had done a lot of improvements to the home. The county raised my value to match their best guess on my purchase price. (Texas is a non-disclosure state)
