Venture Capital numbers for the first half of 2021 came out finally. Montreal has raised $883M over 40 deals in the first half of 2021. Although the city is on track to smash records, we have fallen far behind Vancouver ($2.2B) and Toronto ($2.6B) so far. This is interesting considering in 2018, Montreal was the top city for VC in Canada and last year, caught up to Toronto.

I believe you mentioned that $1.6b was the previous record for MTL? Is that correct?
I have never seen the type of activity since my time in this space that matches this year so far. It is downright insane.
It depends on the publications, but Montreal is usually at $1-$1.2B per year. If things keep going the way they are this year, I'm expecting Montreal to end at around $1.7B and maybe even hit $2B this year. And I agree, I was not expecting VC deals in Canada to go the way they are this year, it's so great to see.
Any updates on the project along the decarie?Royal mont I believe it was called.
