We (my husband, me and my 2yr old) will be moving to Montreal from prairie province in this summer. I will study at McGill for two years and my husband will work remotely at home for his current company. We want to find a place to live close to McGill downtown campus and to the daycare where my kid will attend. Neither of my husband or me speaks French.
Any kids friendly area close to downtown McGill? I want to put my baby in an English or Bilingual daycare. It doesn't have to be a 7-dollar or subsidized. Which area would give me more options to find him a good daycare, and also allows me to commute to campus with 30 minutes? Shorter is better.
We have a car we need to keep. I know the public transportation is quite good in Montreal while it can be very cold in winter for only ten minutes walk. Any possibility I will drive to school or send my baby to daycare?
The only English Daycare I personally know about is " Kids daycare" in Westmount. I know some one that used to work there. There might be something closer but this isn't too far away.
Most daycares in that part of the city (in the vicinity of McGill) will be de facto French-English bilingual anyway, even if they don't explicitly advertise themselves as such.
There is a Metro station right across the street from McGill so anywhere close to a Metro will have you at the University or home from the university in a timely fashion. My Daughter goes to McGill and gets off at the Agrignon station every day, takes about 20 minutes. So you dont necessarily need to live right next to the university. http://www.stm.info/sites/all/module...nteractive.gif
Driving your own car to McGill will be a traffic nightmare everyday and quite costly when it comes to parking.

UrbanLuis : Do you have any experience with the kids & company daycare you mentioned?
