I am driving from upstate NY to Montreal for a weekend in early November. Will I need snow tires?

Thanks

Probably not but Mother Nature can be unpredictable..
Do you not use winter snow tires in upstate NY? As Montreal and Upstate NY have similar winter weather.

There is no legal requirement for vehicles outside Quebec, and at that time of year there should not be any problem.

Snow tires are not mandatory for visitors in Quebec. Winter tires are not mandatory anywhere in the U.S. including in Upstate N.Y. which has similar weather to Southern Quebec.

Indeed, there will basically be 0% chance it will snow in early November in Southern Quebec area. First snowfall is usually in early December, and sometimes even around Christmas. However, you never know mother nature. It snowed once on Halloween in NYC area which is extremely rare while Montreal had 10 C/50 F

No they don't. When it snows heavy they close down everything.

IF you are going to spend the winter in Quebec, please get snow tires. But, definitely, do not spend all that $$$ if you are just visiting in early November. It may sprinkle but I don't think you are going to have a blizzard.

Enjoy!
