I kinda thought getting the proposed tuition hikes taken off the table wouldnt be enough,, they are now going for free tuition..
Quebec student group wants free tuition now that hike is off the table | CTV News

Maybe we should give them free housing and food or anything else they want while they are going to school, why not just make everything free eh? Or better yet lets pay them to go to school....Obviously with their success in bringing down the Liberal government and getting their separatist government installed they are of the opinion they now rule the world.

Not sure they will get much support for their new demands.

Well there were only 1000 protesters yesterday, which is a very small number compared to the previous months. The whole movement seems to be dying down.

I cant believe the gall of these layabouts, they cost the government millions in law enforcement and property damage along with inconvenience to tens of thousands of commuters every day so their hissy fit could bring down the government now that they've achieved their objective they want more. If i thought these were actual students and not just agitators too lazy to go to school i'd wish them to lose another year in their studies.worthless bums who have nothing better to do..

Its symptomatic of Quebec as a whole, that sense of entitlement is all over the place , they want euro style socialism while still indulging in US type consumerism like you cant ever max out that credit card.

The ROC is somewhat like that too but Quebec carries it to another level entirely and the inept government they just elected has already showed its colors....more social spending, tax the wealthy ( is $130 k a year rich lol), more repellant business and language laws.

The new cabinet is a joke, the finance minister who is always expected to act as counter-balance in any administration is a free-spender just like the whole bunch of them.

If you're brought up in that culture of believing whining gets you everything you demand what can the rest of us expect from them.

I'll bet Marois is now looking at them and perhaps just beginning to get a hint of what the rest of Canada has been tolerating for decades. "Gee; I gave them what they asked for but now they want even more"! Haaaar!

Must be genetic.

Actually, there's a post-secondary institution right here in sunny Kingston where they can do just that! It's called RMC. But then again, they'd probably whine because they weren't getting paid enough!

Not everyone in Quebec has these mindsets. The students give the province a bad name. Quebec is more of a socialist province but they aren't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

KingstonBob.

I guess you missed the part about RMC graduates OWING the next SEVEN YEARS of their life to the Canadian Forces, eh ?

Yes the RMC cadets get paid, and they earn every penny, as each of their summers, for four years, are taken up with CF training and duties, unlike other University students.

The competition to get a seat at RMC is intense, with about 150 applicants for EVERY place in the intake year. You do understand that it is a 4 year Engineering school, and no body graduates, UNLESS they are 100 percent bi-lingual, at a University level of fluency ?

Ever hear this one? Many apply, FEW are chosen........

Well... look at it this way:

Question: Does Quebec need university-educated adults for the provincial workforce? Yes, or No?

Possible Answer 1: Yes. Quebec needs university-educated adults for the provincial workforce, because it is not 1650 anymore and being a nation of peasant farmers won't cut it in the 21st century.

So, if Quebec needs university-educated adults for its workforce, then why is it that the students are being asked to foot the bill, when it's the whole province that will benefit?

Do you make firemen pay for their hoses and fire engines out of their own pockets? Or does the province provide them with what they need to serve the public?

The obvious thing to do is to pay for university education in Quebec, in the same manner that France/Sweden/Norway/etc. supports its students.

Possible Answer 2: No. Quebec does not need university-educated adults, and persuing a university degree is not useful, not beneficial, and not wanted by the province.

So... a university education is of no value. Those students should go learn how to chop down trees or farm with a mule or make canoes and trade for furs with the first nations people?

Great... so why are we charging for something that is essentially worthless? It should be free.

=)
