We are in the middle of booking a ski (really snowboard) trip up to Mont Tremblant on MLK Day Weekend (American holiday; we get the 3rd Monday off in January). Because it's not a Canadian holiday we got a great deal and it's only a little longer of drive from Buffalo than it is to the resorts of Vermont. I'm real happy about the deal because Tremblant is always Ski Magazine's #1 resort in the east and our hotel (the Homewood Suites) is right at the foot of the mountain's South Side. However are we missing something? I know Tremblant can get crowded. Is there a less known, better quality ski resort that I overlooked? If not, what do you like about Tremblant?

Yeah it can get crowded but it is really lovely, has a neat little pedestrian village and has excellent skiing. I used to stay at the Fairmont Tremblant (which has a couple of outdoor jacuzzis and indoor-outdoor swimming pools, whereas most of the other accommodation there are condos with no pools - mind you that may have changed as it is 10 years since I have been there. Parking can be a challenge but if I remember correctly we would park up the hill and get a shuttle down. I like Tremblant better than Mont-Ste-Anne simply because it has more of a resort feel and the wind off the St-Lawrence seems to make the hills icier at Mont- Ste-Anne.

Oh. Make sure you wear ski helmets. Please.

Yeah, there's lots of good hills in QC but Tremblant's the best place to go on a ski vacation like that.
