I want to relocate to Montreal from India. Any light on cost of living in Montreal compared with Hyderabad, India.

This assumes that someone on this forum is familiar with both Hyderabad and Montreal. Slim chance.

Your best bet might be to find an immigration forum for Canada with a lot of Indian participants who have actually made the move.

Can't vouch for the accuracy though. I've never been to Hyderabad.

Some of my bills in Montreal to give you an idea..
Rent=$600 per month for a 3 bdrm cottage, a bit below the norm
Electric=$200 every 3 months
Home Phone,Internet and cable TV=$160 a month
Groceries for 4= $100-$150 a week
Beer=$10 for 6
Cigarettes=$10 a pack of 25
Gasoline=$1.30 per liter
A reasonably priced new car=$18,000 for a Toyota Vitz/Yaris
Provincial sales tax=6%
Federal Goods and Service tax=7%
Reasonably priced bungalows around Montreal=$150,000 to $350,000
Minimum wage= $9.65hr
Monthly bus pass=$72 adult, $32 for students

Plenty of online resources to connect with fellow Indians in Montreal just
Google "Indian community" and up pops many sites like this one =

Doesn't really change the whole picture but the Federal GST is actually 5% now, while Quebec PST (TVQ) is 8.5% and will increase to 9.5% on 1/1/2012.

So you are living in Hyderabad and not the prices. I can help you with cost of living in Montreal.

I cannot help you with the comparison but I can imagine you know the cost of living in India...So I suggest you read this article that explain with much details what is the cost of living in Montreal.
