I can't top MtnSurfer's photos by any stretch, but my family had an amazing time visiting Monterey Bay on our way to SF a few years ago. Even toying with idea of applying to a position there, but housing/COL (sigh).

First couple from Point Lobos

After living here briefly as a teenager in the early 1970s and then having lived and worked there as an adult between 2000-2004, I can in all honesty say Monterey is my own personal utopia. Miss it terribly, have nothing but the best of memories from both times I lived there, and the people of Pacific Grove (the little community where I lived on both occasions) are amazing.

If one can afford it, I would recommend living in Monterey/Pacific Grove without reservation.

Whoever coined Disneyland as the happiest place on earth had clearly never lived in Pacific Grove, LOL!

So beautiful, thanks for sharing! I've been to Monterey and Big Sur twice: once in October 2012 and again in August 2013 while also going to San Francisco. Absolutely breathtaking!!! One of the most beautiful and serene places I've ever been. All I can say is I wish it was a bit warmer and sunnier (especially in August). But the ocean was crystal clear and very calm in many places and the smell was so nice.

I so wish I didn't have to work in L.A. and PHX. I would move up there in a heart beat. Wonderful photos, just drool worthy!!

Early pre-Spring 2015 additions. My favorite time of year living in Monterey - sunny, warm, green, uncrowded, beautiful.

Default Pacific Grove, CA Coastal Path

I moved to the Monterey area in '05 for a radio job, found it to be one of the most beautiful places I'd ever seen...
