In the Flathead today it got up to 40 after being in the teens with a decent amount of snow overnight. It's spit rain off and on all afternoon. Avalanche warnings all over the Whitefish Range into tomorrow. Big Mountain didn't open on time due to avalanche mitigation.

Roads will be sketchy tonight as it turns into an icy glaze. Fun stuff.

Got the snow all pushed off and our roof raked this morning while it was easy to handle ... went from powdery to 'Sierra Cement' inside of a few hours ... that'll keep the chiropractors happy I suppose. I figured buying that tractor a few years ago would pay dividends ... it's cheaper than back surgery hah hah

Peaked at 46F today. Quite a contrast to the rest of the week. Had to clear the driveway before it freezes into iron tonight so I got out my ol' Armstrong snow mover and hopped to it.

Clever trick: spray your shovel blade with that grey-can silicon WD40 penetrant stuff, and let dry. Prevents soggy snow from sticking to it. Otherwise by the time i was done my shovel woulda weighed 300 pounds!

We were in Essex MT since Monday. Annual family snowshoe/XC skiing thing along the edge of the park. We were supposed to come home Friday but nixed that idea and left this morning. Friday was WILD. It had been snowing all week, but Thursday night saw the heaviest, then Friday morning it was a sheet of glaze ice and wet heavy snow/rain falling. For a second or two we all thought we were back in North Central West Virginia!

The drive home to Helena was uneventful today. Road crews really worked their tails off overnight to clean things up!

Just got back from Essex and a couple nights @ IWI. We went over late afternoon Saturday and came back earlier today. Hwy 2 must have been a mess ... glad we missed the worst of it, because it was far from good on Saturday.

Looks like rain again later this week ... I'm over this lousy weather and wish Winter would just set in and hold.

That's where we were- IWI in the loco engine. Had to extend the trip a day and spent Friday night in the lodge.

Since you were in Essex, why didn't you go across the road and fix the porch on our cabin? It's done fell to pieces....

Didn't enjoy the lodge room much ... too small.

Booked a caboose for a couple nights in July though

Go shopping for lumber lately?

I’d love to live up there. Maybe when we retire….

Yeah, replacement deck is probably gonna be rocks, or composite, or just about anything but wood... tho considering how many surplus trees are on the place, a person could mill out enough to rebuild the whole durn cabin and still have excessive trees.
