Where is the new Amtrak station going to be? Water street or build it at Brookly Field?

Huntsville is just booming all around. I read their city plan a while ago and they seem to have stuck too it. Wish Mobile had done the same.

Lol what? Mobile has a master plan, it’s had 2 in fact, one from 2009 and another from 2016 called Map for Mobile, and they’ve kept to their word on it. Downtown has exploded, they created the UDC, the will be moving traffic to the new Mobile International Airport. Brookley by the Bay, Three Mile Creek Greenway, lots of infilling, economic growth etc

Downtown at Water Street, although it may stop at the new airport at Brookley, too, in the future.

I plan I posted is from 2009.

They list 12 Downtown priority initiatives.

1. River front loop/Dauphin Landing

2. Fort Conde Village expansion/Interstate exchange reconfiguration

3. Dauphin Street Entertainment District

4. Spanish Plaza (Civic Center)

5.Downtown Medical technology corridor(this technically already existed)

6. Hickory Street Sports Acadamy /Park

7. MLK/East Gateway Mixed Use District

8. MLK/West Mixed Use

9. Campgrounds revitalization

10. Ladd Peeble Stadium mixed use district . Parking structure

11. Lowrise towers in wealthy neighborhoods(individually listed in doc)

12. creation of mixed income communities in vacant land.(individually listed in doc)

What part of this plan was followed ?

LOL, again, even if you believe that, it means they didnt follow it. Lets not move goal posts.

Also, I dont really think the civic center plan was a fantasy.

And again there’s a newer more resonable master plan that Mobile has, and a lot of stuff has been or is being accomplished from it

1. In process

2. In design

3. Yes. There are two "entertainment districts" formed under Alabama law, focused on Dauphin

4. Yes (see this thread)

6 (and partly 7/8). Part of the TMC Trail process. See here

9. Campgrounds has been listed as a historic district, which helps preserve. Part of the public investment was discussed during the 2021 mayoral election. Private investment has been slow coming, but it is happening.

10. Nothing.

11. There have been several historic rehabs in "wealthy" historic districts, including Marine Street Lofts and new developments such as the Meridian at the Port downtown

12. Part of the MHB's plan for the Birdsville area
