LODGED IN JAIL

Shelbina, Mo., Dec 27---Detective T.E. Pratt of the Burlington Railroad arrived here today with Roy Bailey, who was arrested at El Campo, Tex., December 19, charged with attempting to wreck the " E11 " at this place on the night of November 9.
Bailey was taken to jail, and it is said his relatives will not bail him out, but will let him stay there until court meets in April. Several others charged with being implicated in the crime had been previously arrested and are in jail.
Pratt comes from one of the best families in the county. Bailey was chased by detectives 3,200 miles before he was captured. Letters written to a girl led to his arrest.

VERDICT IN 3 MINUTES

Exactly 3 minutes were required by a jury in reaching a verdict of guilty after the trial of Harry Caton, alias Jefferson, on a charge of highway robbery in Judge McDonald's court yesterday evening. There was no deliberation, and the space that elapsed between the jurymen's departure from the courtroom and their return was consumed in affixing their signatures to the finding.
Five years imprisonment in the penitentiary was the penalty imposed on Caton by the verdict, and he was plainly astonished at the exhibition of summary justice.
Caton was convicted of robbing Lyman R Faverau of No. 4308 Forest Park boulevard, within a few paces of his home, early on the night of August 14. Caton was indicted with Frank Bebee. Bebee has not yet been tried.
