TAKES REVOLVER FROM ROBBER

William Webber, a butcher at No. 2608 Cass avenue, last evening fought and disarmed a robber who had assisted in robbing him of $18 and put both to flight by a fusillade of shots from their own weapon. Webber told police one of them staggered after leaving as if wounded.
Webber was alone in his shop and about to close the doors for the night when the men entered.
Pretending to examine meat, they quickly pulled a revolver and pressed it against Webber's head and ordered him to raise his hands.
The attack was so unexpected that Webber complied. One robber went behind the counter and emptied the cash register. The sight of his day's receipts disappearing into the robber's pocket so angered Webber that he brought his fist down on the nose of the man who held the revolver. Grasping the weapon while the robber was momentarily disconcerted, Webber opened fire as the men retreated from the shop. As they neared the door one reeled and almost fell to the floor, but recovered and fled.

PECULIAR MISSOURI SHOOTING

Golden City, Mo., Aug 8---Thomas Gardner, who lives 4 miles north of here, was shot yesterday afternoon in the back with a charge of No. 6 shot, while driving near his home in his wagon.
He was not seriously wounded. His 20-year-old son asserts that while out hunting, strange men took the gun away from him and told him to run, that they intended killing his father.
The old man says he saw no one shoot and has very little to say about it. No trace of strange men could be found by officers. No action has been taken yet by the prosecuting attorney.
