Depends what location your are looking in. There is Amish in Moberly,Laplata and Rutledge and St. James town as well. You need to be more specific in what area you looking into?

Many Amish/Mennonite communities hold an annual auction or relief sales for the Mennonite Central Committee. Personally, I have never attended one in Missouri but have attended several the community in and around Arcola and Arthur, Il in Douglas Co., IL. They are generally held the last Friday and Saturday in August.

Due to the size of the community in Central Illinois, you will generally see 20-30 quilts and a good variety of hand-made furniture offered each year.

The quilts generally go for $300-800 each depending on the size and the method of quilting.

Prices are generally lower for the first two or three quilts offered on Saturday morning.

If you have any more questions, fire away.

I can't stand amish/mennonite. Now thats not to say they are all bad, i've been to jamesport, i've seen some that seem ok... but I had a relative join them, and was told he had to sever all ties with family that wasn't mennonite. They also wanted him to divorce his wife since she was previously married and said his wife could rejoin if she remarried her ex. Yet it was OK for him to stay with them if they divorced.

They can be polite in normal conversation, but their ways are straight up wack...

They don't have much use for a handicapped person as well. Or was it just me?

If you are in Missouri I suggest meeting some in person and inquiring. Word of mouth will get you directions to a farm.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you want to live with an Amish family?
