Hey All,

My daughter is graduating from Army basic training at FT Leonard Wood, MO
in a few weeks.

We haven't seen her for 3 months and we only get 12 hours with her the day before she graduates and ships out for a another year of training in Texas.

We would like to take her out to lunch / dinner and some entertainment but we can't find anything with in 100 miles of the place.
We're not picky but we'd like to take her out and spend some time with her some where a little better then Burger King and a bus stop

Thanx, any help would be very much apreciated.

I think Rolla is about 25 miles away and they will have all you want.

Please keep in mind that you will be in the Ozarks and drive times are not like being on a flatland highway. The road from Ft Leonard Wood to Rolla is a decent two lane hwy. I also think you could go to Jefferson City(state capitol) during this 12 hr period.

Eddy: Don't worry about the roads. I'm sure you've seen roads that aren't entirely level or straight. To answer your question....If I had been eating Army chow for 3 months I'd want to go to Springfield to the Bass Pro Shop. There's an excellent buffet (I don't recall the name) that features the perfect blend of style and substance. It's unique yet affordable. It's perhaps two hours from Ft Wood so you'll still have time to eat, shop and tour the museum.

Both Jefferson City and Springfield are 2 hours away which would put us in the car for a third of our time together but it wouldn't be completely horrible.
We'll check them out.

Home Cooking- GO TO LAMBERTS!!!!!! It is in Ozark, MO near Springfield. There is a two hour wait, but very worth it. You can go behind the restaurant and sample cheese and look around an antique mall.

I doubt that this will help "Eddey G". He wants to spend quality time with his daughter. Not road time. Lamberts must be really good with a 2 hr wait.

You can find a decent sit-down place to get a bite in Rolla. If you aren't looking for high end, I'm sure there must be half a dozen home cooking places in the area.

Question Lodging While Attending Fort Leonard Wood Bct Graduation

MY SON WILL BE GRADUATING IN LATE JANUARY 2007.

sorry for the caps. i can only use one hand to type, as i have broken both yhe bones in my arm at the wrist. what we are looking ia affordable, meger accomidations for the last week and or the first week of march. our son has injured his knees during training this is why the date is not for sure.

we are both veteran's and maybe driving in able to afford the trip.
there have been some suggestions sent thru our son, printed by the ARMY, but we just gon't know the area and weather condioions for that time frame.

It is possible to get a late snowstorm during the first two weeks of March. Most likely you will get a motel in Rolla. Give me some info on what the Army says and i wil try to help more.
