I think the point was Minneapolis received a seasons worth of snow in a single month, and that it was even more unusual for them to top Duluth's monthly total concurrently.

Agreed. Cold location this morning in Minnesota appears to be Hibbing with a low of -28F. Black River Falls, WI saw -31F. Next week looks mild.

I plow snow, what do they do with all the snow? I watched a long YouTube video from Montreal and they remove all the snow from the city and dump it into an old mine. The snow piles are insane! Does UP do the same as they get 300 inches a year in town? It boggles my mind. The year I lived in Anchorage Alyeska ski resort I went weekly, the top got 900 inches, but base didn't get anywhere near that.

The flooding is going to be bad this spring.

A few winters ago, in Duluth, they had set up some large machine, thingy, that melted snow as it was put in by a large front end loader. They had it set up in the lot about a block and a half above Walgreens on Superior Street location. It was a large heater of some sort. Maybe 3 winters ago am guessing.

A local guy here in the cities has a few of them. He has plowed Rosedale mall since it's beginning. I don't think it gets used much, the cost to operate it is huge. Montreal has it figured out.

What exactly is causing these storms (including the one coming this weekend) to track right into the Cities and missing areas further to the north (like Duluth)? Is there some sort of pressure shield keeping the systems further south? I feel like we are missing out on the action a little.

I'll be sitting this one out down in Georgia. Trading in this snowstorm for a weekend of thunderstorms and warmth. Don't worry, I gassed up the snowblower for my teenagers.
