Google maps says 18 miles and about 25 minutes. How bad is the traffic on 394 and 94?

Thanks.

25 minutes during rush hour? Good luck. That would be a gross commute...I would say more in the neighborhood of twice that amount of time.

25 minutes will work if you leave at 6 am.

Which campus are you going to? The one on Summit in St Paul or downtown Minneapolis? And what time of day? St Paul would be horrendous, especially at the 394/94 interchange which is bad any time. You might be better off going down to 494 and then all the way around the city!

you'll bottleneck at the 394/94 interchange, the lowry tunnel and the long stretch between downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. You're basically going to be bumper to bumper for half the commute.

Thanks,
That's what I wanted to know. I'll cross Minnetonka off the list.

Easily among the worst in the metro. 394 going into Minneapolis is usually a complete disaster during rush hour. The only thing that makes it bearable is if you're carpooling or paying the toll to use the carpool lanes. As bad as that is, switching over to 94 is ten times worse. In a year of driving 394, I have *never* seen traffic flowing smoothly onto 94. It is *always* backed up going through the tunnel, and I've gone in as late as 9:30AM on some days.

I'd look on the other side of the river, as that always seems to be the major bottleneck on any commute.
