I say: do it. I am from Solvang, CA and moved to Cedar City, UT in 2005 in order to have my second child and still be able to afford a maternity leave. I considered Austin. I had the same problem making.enough money to feed my family. I moved to Highland Park, Saint Paul in 2009. I interviewed for a job here and was hired so I moved here, a single mom with two kids. I made the most money in my career in 2009! I love living so close to both down towns. It is safe here. Little or no traffic. Highly educated and health minded people. So much better than the south west. Dare I say, no drama! I met my boyfriend here (he's from the east coast) and we just bought a very affordable house in Eagan. Seems like a no brained to me! The kids love it here too. Good luck!
